CHOOSING A RIGHT COURSE
image Now first select the course in which you are interested and go by your ambitions. Don't get influenced by the suggestions of your friends, relatives and even your parents if you don't have any interest or passion to choose the particular course. Remember if you perform well in any course you can get a good job and earn money. Don't think only a particular course can fetch you a job or money. If you have got good marks in qualifying exams say class 12 or graduation then you can get into the merit list in a reputed college. But If you haven't done well with your marks in qualifying exams don't worry. Forget about the past and move on to the next steps.
LIST OF GOOD COLLEGES
image The first thing to do is to make a list of colleges, the ones that appeal to you in terms of college infrastructure, reputation, in the locality in which you want to study. Some may want to study in their home while some prefer to study in hostels in other areas. A good college should not only have a good college building but you should assess it in terms of ambience, capacity to support the intake of students, workshops, computer labs, laboratories, etc. After all, you will be spending your precious next four years in this college.
Sometimes many heard and popular colleges cannot meet your expectations. So don't go just by the popularity or rankings given in a particular magazine or website. The size of the colleges also matter. Give some importance to the surroundings in which you are going to study.
FACULTY
Faculty is definitely one of the most important factors. Search through various college websites and read about the faculties. Consequently, you can search on the internet about various faculties whether they are permanent or visiting faculties at the college.
INFRASTRUCTURE OF A GOOD COLLEGE
image Look out for the prospectus and the facilities available in the institutions. Remember you are going to spend three to five years in your college. The complete infrastructure should be well-supported by amicable facilities like Laboratories, Internet, intranet, Library, College canteen, hostel, dispensary, student counseling cell, etc. These facilities lend huge support to your over all education. Don't think there is no need to give any importance to canteen facilities. Remember 'Health is Wealth', so the cleanliness and proper intake of food is equally important. Compare the colleges with Their brochures or with the facilities mentioned in their websites.
SCHOLARSHIPS & FEES
This is an important factor if you join a private college. Don't look only at the cost factor. Only if you are facing tough conditions to pay the particular fees look for a different college. Many colleges offer scholarships to students who perform well in their academics.
PLACEMENTS OPPORTUNITIES
Placements play an important role in choosing a good college. Many colleges offer jobs directly by affiliating to various companies and by conducting campus interviews. So there is no need to search for a job when you get placed in a good college. Many colleges also give you an opportunity to get experience by working in other countries as part of their courses. A personal visit from the parents can also help in choosing a good college or a university.
VISIT THE COLLEGE
Most colleges have brochures, catalogues and web sites; go through them. Go to College fairs and speak with the college representatives. Take advantage of these opportunities and take a list of questions with you so that you can get full information after you short list the colleges from which you want to do your graduation/ post graduation try to visit the colleges to satisfy yourselves. Visit the facilities the college has to know about the college. After you have visited the campuses on your list, you need to compare them and try to narrow down your list.
COUNSELING FROM EXPERTS
Asking the educational consultants helps to a great extent. Educational experts can help you choose the right course as well as they can help you to choose the right college for your marks. So consult them to clear more doubts but beware of commission agencies.
VALID SUGGESTIONS
Take some valid suggestions from your parents, friends and alumni's of the colleges on their opinion about the colleges but beware of commission agents.
